Accra RFC Results - 1997

Welcome Accra RFC. We are the leading club in Ghana. More to the point, we have what could be called a monopoly on rugby here. Still, at least we are national champions (again).

We train every Tuesday and Thursday at the Ghana International School in Accra starting at 18:00 hrs. All welcome, whatever your playing level . Club captain Chris (with the lobsters - and I thought "crabs" was bad enough) is keen to welcome newcomers to rugby. Rick Wright is now leading the coaching and the club is going from strength to strength both on and off the field.

Most days of the week, you can find the boys either at Champs Sports Bar or Ryan's Irish Pub. Does that surprise you?

Due to a shortage of local opposition, we often play matches and tournaments accross the border in Lome, Togo, or against visiting Navy ships.

The other club in Ghana, Obouasi Mines, has lost a lot of players recently and has folded.

Here are a few images to give you a feel for the boys, if the boys need a feeling!
